Practice Coach, eyeDOCS
Originally from St. John’s, Newfoundland, Ashley officially settled in Ottawa in 2013. An avid traveller, Ashley has lived in the Rocky Mountains in Banff and Jasper, abroad in Cangnan County, China teaching English, and in Manchester, England.
Before joining the eyeDOCS team, Ashley spent the better part of a decade working with Fairmont Hotels and Resorts. Known as a leader in the global hospitality industry, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts is where Ashley first became invested in providing superior customer service.
Ashley joined eyeDOCS in 2014, working in the eyeDOCS Ottawa clinic at 1285 Kilborn Avenue, where she continued to provide superior customer service in her role as receptionist. Rapidly Ashley recognized her interest in the optical industry and began training in the eyeDOCS dispensary to fit patients with the best eyewear and lenses for their needs. Her own experiences – having had binocular vision issues and having finally been treated with quality eye care and vision therapy – are what made this a passion for Ashley.
Her belief, that what sets a company apart in the mind of the consumer is superior customer service, drove her to seek further knowledge so that she might continue to provide patients with the best care. In 2016, Ashley began taking the Optical Science program with the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and graduates in 2018. She will complete her NACOR licensing to become a Registered Optician in Ontario later in 2018.
Throughout her career with eyeDOCS, Ashley has experienced the customer service cycle at every stage. This experience is, in part, what has made her uniquely qualified for the role of Practice Coach. Ashley will provide high-quality and cost-effective project management, management consulting, analytics support services, and technical expertise to all eyeDOCS clinics with the intent to make meaningful changes and improve patient experiences.
Furthermore, Ashley has taken on the role of buyer for all six clinics. Analysing trends in sales, researching niche products, and ensuring that all products uphold the high-quality standard valued by eyeDOCS patients. With the support of the clinic managers, she is responsible for selecting the lines that are carried at each clinic and for the centralization of the eyeDOCS frame inventory. This cooperative process results in continued improvements to the clinics product offerings by ensuring each location’s inventory is tailored to their locale.
Ashley’s close relationship with eyeDOCS suppliers enables her to coordinate supplier training sessions and to better understand and communicate each product’s unique qualities to our staff so they might better serve our patients.
