Dr. Elaina Kuang grew up in the suburbs of Montreal and Toronto, and received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Waterloo. After graduation, she worked as an ophthalmic technician and discovered her passion for the field of eye care. In 2014, she graduated cum laude from Illinois College of Optometry, where she was awarded membership in the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society.
Dr. Kuang gained extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases through her clinical externship rotations at the Illinois Eye Institute, Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, a private practice in Andersonville and the Jesse Brown Veterans Affair Medical Centre. During her training in Chicago, Dr. Kuang also provided comprehensive eye exams to the pediatric population via the Chicago Public Schools Eye and Vision Care Program, a pilot program lead by Dr. Sandra Block, aimed to help low-income students who fail in-school vision screenings.
After her experiences in Chicago, she moved to Ottawa and now enjoys practicing full scope optometry at eyeDOCS. Dr. Kuang is an active member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the Ottawa Society of Optometrists. She feels privileged to provide thorough vision and eye health exams to patients of all ages and welcomes new patients.
In her spare time, she enjoys reading, gardening, traveling and takes a special interest in painting. Whenever possible, she visits her family in Toronto and Montreal.
