Eyewear Consultant, Manager at eyeDOCS Kanata, eyeDOCS Westboro, and eyeDOCS Preston
Mark has twelve years of combined experience working in the optical industry. He came to Ottawa thirteen years ago to study psychology at Carleton University. After completing his first year of post-secondary education he began working in an optical store over the summer months. His interest in the field grew as he was mentored by a newly graduated optician and the co-owner of the store. He continued in working in optometry throughout his school years and after school he moved to London, Ontario. He remained working in the optical field and gained management experience which combined with his education in psychology has enabled him to excel among the eyeDOCS team as clinic manager.
In October 2012, Mark joined the team at eyeDOCS. Mark has worked in three of the five eyeDOCS locations and in the spring of 2013 he became the clinic manager at the office in Westboro. In January, 2016 he transferred from Ottawa to the eyeDOCS Kanata and Westboro locations, and has been managing there ever since. In spring 2017, he took over management of eyeDOCS Preston.
As the clinic manager for our largest clinic, Mark ensures the staff at eyeDOCS Ottawa are communicating and working together to improve and execute the highest standards of patient care. It is no small job to ensure that the seven exam rooms and glasses boutique run cooperatively and smoothly but Mark excels at the task.
Mark is also responsible for organizing and setting up eyeDOCS specialty clinics in binocular vision and dry eye treatment. From organizing the staff scheduling and the patient flow throughout the clinic to the logistics of setting up the space and equipment required, Mark can be credited with much of the success of these clinics.
Finally, Mark is responsible for ensuring the execution of best practice procedures, for recruitment and coaching of staff members and for managing the budget for eyeDOCS Kanata, Preston and Westboro. Mark is also responsible for the centralization of eyeDOCS contact lens online/in-store ordering systems.
Mark can be found at eyeDOCS Kanata, Preston, or Westboro where he further assists the sales staff by imparting product knowledge and troubleshooting any issues patients may be having with their glasses. His background in psychology is an asset when problem solving, engaging in human resource tasks, and serving patients.
