Nathalie Barjolin, Optometric Assistant and Manager

Manager at eyeDOCS Riverside South, eyeDOCS Kanata, and eyeDOCS Barrhaven

Nathalie’s career in the optical industry started in 1989 and spans more than 20 years. When she was in her 1st year of college and she took a part time job as a receptionist in one of Ottawa’s premier optical stores. Here Nathalie was introduced to the key operations of an optical store.  She continued to work there until graduating from college and then she moved on to work with children. After several years, she decided that the optical field is where she wanted to be.

Nathalie worked with a local optical chain for 6 years, and then joined eyeDOCS in 2001, receiving her Optometric Assistant certification in 2007. Her passion for working with eyeDOCS stems from the seamless combination of two different fields. In her daily tasks she can not only help her patients to see better and to take better care of the health of their eyes but she also gets to work in the fashion industry, helping the patients to select frames and sunglasses that best suit their style.

It is Nathalie’s great sense of style has kept her passion for the optometry industry alive for so many years. Nathalie approaches optical consultations by first taking on the role of a personal shopper for each patient she and her staff works with. By first inquiring and understanding the patient’s specific fashion needs it is possible to ensure that they are always looking like their most fashionable self before they leave the eyeDOCS clinics.

Furthermore, as the manager of the eyeDOCS Riverside South, eyeDOCS Kanata and eyeDOCS Barrhaven locations, Nathalie is responsible for the execution of best practice procedures, the recruitment and coaching of staff members and the management of the budgets for the locations where she is manager.

Nathalie’s vision for eyeDOCS is that each and every patient leaves the clinic not only seeing their best but looking great!
