Steve Fauchon, Optician and Manager

Optician, Manager at eyeDOCS Ottawa

Steve’s optician career was inspired by his brother, Dr. Serge Fauchon, some 20 years ago. He started his career while completing the optician’s course at a small independent local office. Shortly after this he moved to a much faster pace local company to gain experience in different aspects of the industry.  His experiences there included an emphasis on customer service and quality control at the company’s dedicated lab, skills he has continue to expand on since.

When the opportunity to work with eyeDOCS arose in 2000, he joined the team as the Dispensing Manager at the Kilborn location. His role in the organization as an Optician was to guide, teach, and educate colleagues in the best way possible so that they could meet and exceed the patients’ needs.

In 2004, he move to Sudbury, Ontario to take on the position as lab manager for a well-established optometric clinic. In this role, he was responsible for all aspects of ordering lenses, assembling glasses, and teaching and educating colleagues on the technical side of glasses manufacturing. He also stepped into the role of customer service representative to help out the office team and because he’s always enjoyed helping and guiding patients to the right pair of glasses for their needs.

After three years away from Ottawa, Steve decided to return to the city, eyeDOCS, and his previous position at the Kilborn location. Since then he’s never looked back and has since gone on to manage three of the organizations locations, Kilborn, Westboro, and Kanata.

Steve’s varied optical experience in a number of different settings has taught him valuable and varied lessons in customer service, sales, and team building that he continues to utilize today as the clinic manager at eyeDOCS Ottawa.

Steve’s expertise in team building has helped him to implement and adjust the systems utilized daily by each member of the eyeDOCS team. It has also expedited the processes for the centralization of the referrals made to ophthalmologists, family doctors, and specialists.

Finally, Steve is responsible for ensuring the execution of best practice procedures, for recruitment and coaching of staff members and for managing the budget the locations he manages.

Steve’s vision for eyeDOCS is for it to be the place that patients can trust with all their eye care and eyewear needs within their communities. The place where friendly, educated, qualified people are there to help.
